Today, you come across different
types of energy healing techniques, such as Chi Qung, Acupuncture, Pranic
Healing and Reiki. Earlier, the number of people practicing these alternative healing
techniques was far less as it was believed that only the chosen ones were born
with this art. However, as the time was changing, some masters of these art
forms realized the importance of spreading awareness about these techniques
among the masses so that they could help themselves and others too. From there
on, the popularity of these techniques started growing with people and now, it
is realized that one does not need to be clairvoyant to learn them.
Of the different variations in energy
healing, two most sought after modalities are Pranic Healing and Reiki. Having
originated in distinct places, both these healing techniques have something
common as well as uncommon between them. If you throw a careful glance at the
basis of these techniques, you will see both of these use life energy, Chi, Ki,
or Prana to heal patients. Because their basic technique is same, many people think
them to be the same. But, it’s not true. Sharing basic technique and purpose doesn’t
make these diverse modalities same. Before, we dig deeper to cover this angle,
let us first understand Pranic Healing and Reiki in brief.
About “Pranic Healing”
Pranic Healing practices are an amalgamation
of healing technology and esoteric sciences. It’s a no-touch healing procedure in
which prana or life energy is used to balance, synchronize and change the
energy cycles of the body. Master Choa Kok Sui has developed this technique.
About “Reiki”
Reiki is a touch therapy in which the
practitioner channelizes the flow of energy into patient’s body through touch.
This process enables the therapist to tap into the natural healing powers of
the patient’s body and to replenish his physical, mental and emotional equilibrium.
If you read these briefs carefully,
one similarity and one dissimilarity between them will be immediately obvious
to your mind. Since what they both share in common is already pointed out, let’s
focus on the latter, i.e. dissimilarity. As you can see, Pranic Healing is a
no-touch therapy and Reiki, a touch therapy. But, is this all? Clearly the
answer is no because there are some more points which you need to know. Hence, we
will now consider their dissimilarity aspect in depth.
Difference: Pranic Healing vs Reiki
To begin with, Pranic Healing is a
non-touch technique and Reiki is essentially a touch-therapy. But, many times
Reiki too uses non-touch therapy. So, what makes them different? Here are the
points:
In Pranic Healing, a practitioner scans
his patient’s body thoroughly to find out those areas where there is energy
congestion or depletion in order to identify the root cause of a problem.
However, Reiki therapists mainly rely on their intuitive powers to assess their
patients’ conditions.
Pranic Healing relies on the
technique of manual cleansing, which is termed as sweeping. This technique is
applied to clean blocked and stagnant energies so that the patient can later be
projected with fresh, new energy. Reiki does not follow any such method in particular.
Pranic healers believe thorough cleansing is an integral part of the healing
process because if a patient’s body is not removed of diseased energies and
negative emotions, he cannot be energized. Projecting fresh energy into patient’s
body without removing the stagnant or blocked energy can lead to the symptoms
of vomiting, rash, loose bowels, flu and others in him. Many say that cleansing
is like detoxifying the patient’s body. In fact, cleansing expedites the
process of healing.
Those specialized in Pranic Healing
believe that every ailment has its own set of energy patterns and hence, they
stick to step-wise healing guidance to treat 11 major chakras and an invariably
large number of meridians in order to treat any patient. The steps are simple,
which in turn, makes it easier for learners. On the contrary, Reiki depends on
only one method to channelize the movement of energy to the required area in
order to heal it.
When you learn Pranic Healing, you
will be shown how to absorb energy from the sun, air, ground and divine sources
followed by projecting it into the body of the patient. The technique is so
easy that someone can even learn this by reading Pranic Healing books. But, in
case of Reiki, you need the guidance of a Reiki Master.
While Pranic Healing places huge emphasis
on energy hygiene techniques, Reiki and other modalities have this element
missing in them. A Pranic healer is thoroughly guided on the ways to cleanse oneself
of contaminating energies or to prevent oneself from getting exhausted due to
energy draining. As a result, the Pranic
Healing practitioners remain revitalized even after giving treatment to
someone.
Which is a better technique then – Pranic Healing or Reiki?
There is no doubt that these alternative
healing techniques differ from each other on many grounds, but to conclude on
the basis of these points that Pranic Healing is better than Reiki or Reiki is
far superior than Pranic Healing is unfair. Both these techniques have been
found to alleviate pain and sufferings of the people. These complement the
mainstream medical treatment, by increasing patients’ receptive and response
system to the processes. Now, which method you find more interesting and
suitable for learning is purely your choice.
There are expert Pranic Healers and
Reiki masters, who feel that the success rate of the treatment depends mainly
on how your patient responds. If the patient is not ready to accept your
healing energy, you can’t help him or her much.
